Jonathan McGowan Speaks on the Decline of Judicial Independence at International Law Conference

Jacksonville, Florida. Jonathan McGowan of The McGowan Law Firm spoke today at the American Bar Association International Law Conference in Washington D.C. The topic was The Decline of Judicial Independence in Europe: Is the US on the Same Path?

The other panelists were Professor Leah Wortham of Columbus School of Law in Washington D.C. and reporter of the European Law Institute – Mt. Scopus European Standards of Judicial Independence; and Professor Bob Bauer of New York University School of Law and co-chair of the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States (Final report available here).

The panel discussed recent developments in Poland and related them to the current proposals for the United States Supreme Court.
